Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Program at BB电子 is a focused set of courses designed to prepare young women for a variety of creative concentrations in college as well as career paths.

Art students will be offered a wide range of artistic experiences while at BB电子. The study of Art history and criticism are important components of courses. Additionally, field trips to museums are regularly incorporated. Course offerings include Art I and II, Advanced Studio Oil and Pastel as well as Watercolor, Contemporary Art Studio and AP Studio Art.

Students are able to take Art I during their freshman year and continue with art and digital media courses throughout the Upper School. Students interested in pursuing art in college may apply for our Visual Art Track. Courses in this track will prepare students for the rigors of many fine arts related majors. Students enrolled in studio classes maintain a portfolio to be used for the college admission process along with scholarship entries. Students submit works for local exhibits and contests, including the Congressional Art Exhibit sponsored by Congressman Sarbanes, the MAEA student exhibit in Annapolis and the Young Artist Showcase sponsored by the Optimist's Club. BB电子 also maintains an active chapter of the National Art Honor Society.

Our digital media program combines art fundamentals with the latest creative technologies. Students utilize Digital SLR Nikon/Cannon cameras and gain an in-depth understanding of Adobe programs including Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom and Illustrator. Through innovative digital media courses, students learn how to create powerful images for a variety of purposes. Courses include: Digital Photography l and ll, Graphic Design, Publication Design, Illustration, Advanced Digital Media and AP 2D Design.

All courses are a semester long except for Publication Design, Advanced Placement courses and Senior Studio Portfolio Preparation, which meet all year. The creative energy is high and the devotion to student achievement is our priority.
